The Wellbeing Farm in Edgworth, Lancashire, is transforming the way rural businesses are run.
Once a rundown livestock farm, it is now a thriving hub for sustainability, wellbeing, and purpose-driven enterprise.
Last week, it put the county firmly on the national map by hosting the B Lab UK Board, marking ten years of the B Corp movement in the UK.
For founder Celia Gaze, it was the perfect opportunity to showcase how a rural business can thrive while putting people, planet, and purpose first.
Celia said: “It’s a huge honour.
“Hosting the Board shows what’s possible in Lancashire and inspires other local businesses to follow suit.
"To me, it’s recognition of everything we’ve built here, our commitment to purpose-driven business, sustainability, and community. Hosting the Board puts Lancashire and our farm on the map for B Corp and purpose-led business. The visit included an on-site board meeting, a tour of the farm, and a special evening event that brought together local business leaders and the B Lab team to celebrate the B Corp movement’s 10th anniversary."
The venue, a B Corp Certified events space, blends professional facilities with farmyard charm. Staying true to her creative streak, Celia, who lives with ADHD, even led the Board on a llama walk around the farm during the mid-meeting break.
“It was the perfect way to share our story - how we transformed a rundown farm into an award-winning, sustainable business and events venue,” she said.
Deliberately “uncorporate” in feel, The Wellbeing Farm mirrors Celia’s own journey from NHS burnout to entrepreneurial reinvention. Guests were invited to take what she calls a ‘helicopter view’ - a chance to step back, think differently, and reconnect with purpose.
Strategy sessions here blend fresh air, conversation, and encounters with the farm’s famously bow-tied llamas, playful mascots for a profound message about sustainability, wellbeing, and creative thinking.
The board’s visit included a full on-site meeting, a tour of the farm’s sustainable systems, and an evening with Lancashire business leaders.
The timing couldn’t have been better: the 10th anniversary of the B Corp movement in the UK, highlighting how far the initiative has spread since its London beginnings.
The Wellbeing Farm is now a thriving venue built around wellbeing, local sourcing, and zero waste. Every detail reflects Celia’s mission to do good and do well: locally grown menus, upcycled décor, renewable energy, and a strict “nothing wasted” policy.
Celia added: “Sustainability isn’t just about recycling, it’s about culture, ethics, and community.
The board’s visit proved that leadership in sustainability can come from anywhere and that Lancashire continues to lead the way in purpose-driven business across the UK, and from a small farm in Edgworth, putting Lancashire firmly on the map.
