Taking on your first employee is one of the biggest milestones in growing a business - but knowing when you’re actually ready can be difficult.
Recruitment specialist and business consultant Laura Hartley is hosting a free online First Hire Readiness Workshop on 15 September, aimed specifically at freelancers, sole traders and solo business owners who are reaching the point where doing everything themselves is no longer sustainable.
Drawing on more than 25 years in recruitment, Laura will help attendees explore the questions that often stop business owners from taking that next step, including:
- Can I actually afford to employ someone?
- What will my first employee really cost?
- Do I need an employee or would a freelancer be better?
- What role should I hire first?
- What do I need to have in place before I recruit?
- How do I avoid making an expensive first-hire mistake?
Laura said: “Your first hire should give you capacity and freedom to grow, not create another full-time job managing the problems caused by getting it wrong. The workshop is designed to help business owners work out whether they’re ready, what they actually need and what their next step should be.”
The First Hire Readiness Workshop is completely free and takes place live online, making it accessible to business owners across Lancashire.
