Community Solutions North West has announced a grant of £249,995 from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to help protect the historic Elmfield Hall and secure its sustainable future as a vibrant community space.
Built in 1853, Elmfield Hall is a Grade II listed building with deep historical roots in Hyndburn.
One of the few remaining examples of Victorian architecture in the area, the hall has been a cornerstone of community life for over 170 years.
This project will ensure that its rich heritage is preserved, while also transforming the space to meet the needs of today’s diverse communities.
The funding will support a comprehensive programme focused on the Heritage Fund’s key investment principles:
- Saving Heritage: Essential repairs to the fabric of Elmfield Hall will prevent further deterioration, protecting its original features and safeguarding its historical significance for generations to come.
- Protecting the Environment: The project will adopt sustainable practices, including improved energy efficiency and the use of eco-friendly materials, ensuring the long-term viability of Elmfield Hall with minimal environmental impact.
- Inclusion, Access and Participation: Through events, workshops and educational activities, the project will encourage participation from people of all ages and backgrounds, ensuring that the Hall is a welcoming space for the whole community to learn, connect and celebrate heritage.
- Organisational Sustainability: This support will help Community Solutions North West to develop new income streams, such as venue hire and community programmes, enabling the charity to grow and continue serving local people.
This project will begin in early 2026, with a series of public events and volunteer opportunities planned throughout the year.
Maggie Moody, chief executive, Community Solutions North West, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled with this incredible support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
"Elmfield Hall is much more than a building – it’s a vital part of our shared history and a hub for the community. Thanks to National Lottery players, we can now protect it, grow it and ensure it continues to make a difference for future generations.”
