Around £500,000 has been invested in a Lancashire village as a result of a new homes development, according to the housebuilder.

Anwyl Homes has welcomed the final residents to its Parr Meadows development in Eccleston, marking the completion of the scheme.

The 3.67-acre site, south of Parr Lane, was acquired from Metacre, a subsidiary of Northern Trust Company, in autumn 2022.

After securing reserved matters approval from Chorley Council for the layout of the development, design of the homes, landscaping and access, Anwyl started work on site in spring 2023 and opened show homes in early 2024.

Anwyl has now successfully completed the development of 22 executive family homes and 12 affordable properties, available via a registered social landlord.

Managing director of Anwyl Homes Lancashire John Grime said: “We’re immensely proud of Parr Meadows. When we acquired the site, there were very few new homes being built in the Eccleston area.

“We reviewed the local market, identified gaps in supply and demand and sought to address them by providing a combination of substantial family homes, alongside affordable housing.

“Eccleston is a sought-after neighbourhood and we started receiving enquiries almost as soon as we announced our plans.

“The success of Parr Meadows demonstrates that we have ability and expertise to adapt our developments to cater for local housing needs, in this case delivering premium quality, highly energy efficient executive family homes. While developing the land we retained mature trees and hedgerows and provided a new area of public open space

“We’ve also invested around £500,000 in the local community including funding towards the creation and maintenance of natural green spaces and playing pitches, and amenity green space via contributions agreed during the planning process.

“Our ‘Love From Anwyl’ initiative saw three schools in the neighbourhood, plus Eccleston Recreational Park, Eccleston Brass Band and Rainbow Hub, share £5,000.”

Headquartered at Buckshaw Village, Anwyl’s Lancashire business operates across the county and in Greater Manchester, the Liverpool City Region and parts of Cheshire.

In Lancashire, its developments include Priory Gardens in Burscough, where Anwyl is building 380 homes across 20 acres of land. Work is also underway at Walkers Glade in Ingol in Preston, where 164 new homes are being created on a 27-acre site. The first homes there will be released for sale in spring.

Anwyl is also active in the land market. John said: “We’re keen to acquire new sites across the North West and will consider intimate schemes, like Parr Meadows where we can deliver large and luxurious properties or, larger scale developments offering a more varied housing mix.

“We will work with landowners to navigate through the planning process to deliver the housing people want and need.”

Meanwhile, David Wilson Homes has officially sold out its Inglewhite Meadow development in Longridge.

The 123-home estate on the outskirts of the town opened its doors in the latter half of 2021.

Now, after three years of construction work, the housebuilder is preparing to hand over its final set of keys.

Jennifer Burns, sales director at David Wilson Homes North West, said: “From the start, Inglewhite Meadow was curated to support and uplift the local community.

“As part of the planning agreement with Lancashire County Council, this included 66 affordable homes for existing residents in the area.

“Across all our developments, we strive to integrate ourselves into the established area to create opportunities for these communities to thrive and support them to flourish.”

The housebuilder is currently working on two other developments in central Lancashire - Calder Rise in the Preston suburb of Cottam and Centurion Village in Leyland.

David Wilson Homes is part of Barratt Developments and operates across the UK with a regional team in the North West.
