Birchall Foodservice proudly supported the launch of the new EVC CitySprint electric van, unveiled at London’s Guildhall on Friday 27th March.
The event, hosted by The Electric Van Company, marked the arrival of a new generation of compact electric commercial vehicles, all designed, engineered and manufactured in Britain at the company’s Clitheroe facility.
As part of the launch, the showcase vehicle was presented in full Birchall Foodservice livery, celebrating a collaboration between two East Lancashire businesses and highlighting a shared commitment to innovation and sustainability.
Built specifically for last-mile delivery, the EVC CitySprint has been developed with real-world operations in mind, focusing on uptime, reliability and efficiency for working fleets. The vehicle offers zero tailpipe emissions, low noise and significantly reduced running costs, while its compact design makes it ideal for urban and local delivery routes.
The CitySprint platform supports a wide range of purpose-built bodies, including box, refrigerated, dropside and tipper configurations, making it suitable for sectors such as logistics, foodservice and hospitality.
Gill Smith, managing director at Birchall Foodservice, said: “We were absolutely delighted to support the launch of the CitySprint. It’s a brilliant example of innovation happening right here in East Lancashire, and something we’re really proud to be part of.
"As a foodservice business, we understand how important efficient and more sustainable delivery solutions are. Vehicles like this have a real role to play in helping businesses reduce their environmental impact while continuing to deliver a great service to customers.”
The Electric Van Company has developed the CitySprint platform to support businesses transitioning to electric, combining vehicle supply with aftersales support, charging solutions and fleet services.
For Birchall Foodservice, the collaboration reflects its ongoing focus on building a more sustainable supply chain, while championing local partnerships that drive the industry.
