Set on the shoreline at Jenny Brown’s Point within the Silverdale and Arnside National Landscape, overlooking National Trust land and Morecambe Bay, this contemporary rural home demonstrates how high‑performance design can sit comfortably within a sensitive and protected setting.
Developed through a close collaboration between the homeowners, HPA Architects and main contractor Wilson Builds, the house was constructed to Passivhaus standards and incorporates wood fibre eco‑boarding, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) and photovoltaic roof panels.
The result is a highly energy‑efficient and healthy family home that combines environmental performance with everyday comfort and high‑quality interior finishes.
HPA Architects led the project from inception through to completion, supported by Woohoo Sustainability Consultancy and working alongside specialist craftspeople, including Hout and the Wilson Builds team.
Replacing a poorly performing bungalow, the new home reflects the clients’ long‑term commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency and build quality.
Careful consideration was given to landscape, ecology and setting throughout, ensuring the development responds sensitively to its surroundings while delivering a durable, low‑energy home designed for the future.
