Vincents Solicitors’ residential property department has received its latest boost following the qualification of a former trainee.
Kieran McGahey will work closely with associate solicitor Samantha Kenyon and under property director Sophie Mercer as he supports conveyancing clients from the firm’s Poulton office.
Kieran qualified as a solicitor 18 months after securing his traineeship with Vincents, for whom he has worked as a conveyancing assistant since 2022.
His success further enhances the Lancashire law firm’s residential property department, already the largest in the county, with 43 fee earners and support staff.
Working as a legal assistant within the firm with his own portfolio of sales files, Kieran stepped up early in his traineeship when his manager went on maternity leave, taking responsibility for transferring files to senior colleagues and keeping clients informed.
Kieran said: “Having already run some of my own files, I had the knowledge and experience to help me through the training and qualification.
"This has also helped me with the transition to running my own caseload now. I enjoyed seeing other parts of the business and trying new areas of the law, but residential property is the specialism I’ve chosen.
“It helps to enjoy what you’re doing and who you are doing it with, this really is the best team I’ve ever worked with.
"I’m so grateful for the firm’s support, and that of the residential property Poulton lead Samantha and of course the fantastic team here in Poulton.”
Kieran also did seats in the Family Team with Mark Mosley and Val Shaw in Preston, supporting in divorce and childcare proceedings, and with the private client department learning about Wills, Probate, Estate Planning and Lasting Power of Attorney.
Upon qualification he was given the choice of area and office and he has returned to Poulton to support clients with sales and purchases, remortgages and equity release.
Sophie Mercer, head of the Poulton branch, said: “Kieran has been an absolute asset to the Vincents team from day one.
"His work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering an excellent service for clients have really stood out. We’re delighted to see him qualify, and even more delighted that he’s chosen to continue his career with us.”
The firm is set to launch its new training programme with a new Training Principal to mentor and oversee progress.
Applications will open later this year and information about how to apply will be advertised on the Vincents Solicitors website.
Katie Elsworth, Vincents’ head of HR, said: “It is always our aim to promote from within and train our own senior staff as it helps ensure we retain the highest levels of legal knowledge and customer service for our clients.
"It’s also lovely to reward those who work hard for the good of their team and clients, and I’m thrilled to see Kieran progressing in this way.”
