Great Harwood Rovers Football Club has announced plans to expand its leadership team and is inviting passionate, community-minded individuals to join its board of directors as the club enters an exciting new phase of growth.

As one of the area’s proud grassroots football facilities, Great Harwood Rovers has continued to grow in both participation and ambition.

With a new 3G pitch development bid currently underway, the club is preparing to significantly enhance its facilities, increase playing capacity, and strengthen its role at the heart of the local community.

To support this next chapter, the club is seeking new board members who can help shape its long-term future.

Nigel Sutton, chairman said: “We are at a pivotal moment in the club’s history.

"Our grassroots roots are what define us, but with the proposed 3G facility, we have an opportunity to create a sustainable, modern hub for football and community sports in Great Harwood. We’re looking for people who share our passion and want to play a meaningful role in guiding that journey.”

Great Harwood Rovers welcomes expressions of interest from individuals with a range of skills and backgrounds.

Experience in areas such as finance, governance, fundraising, facilities management, community engagement, legal services, or project management would be particularly valuable - though enthusiasm and commitment to grassroots sport are just as important.

The club is committed to building a diverse and inclusive board that reflects the community it serves.

The proposed 3G facility will allow the club to increase year-round training and match availability, reduce weather-related cancellations, expand youth and girls’ football provision, create new community usage opportunities, and strengthen long-term financial sustainability.

New board members will play a key role in overseeing the 3G bid process, supporting strategic planning, ensuring strong governance, and helping the club build partnerships across the region.

Individuals interested in joining the board of Great Harwood Rovers are invited to contact the club for an informal conversation in the first instance. For further information or to express interest, please contact Nigel Sutton, Chairman on [email protected]

Great Harwood Rovers is more than a football club - it is a community asset built on dedication, volunteer spirit, and opportunity for all. With ambitious plans ahead, now is the perfect time to get involved and help shape the future of grassroots sports in Great Harwood.

Great Harwood Rovers have been a fixture in the local community since 1975. They are an FA Charter Standard Community Club, run solely by local volunteers for children’s grassroots football.

The club now comprises of 32 teams for adult males, girls and boys ranging in age from Under 7s to Under 18s, plus a Mini League for 4 to 6 year olds – with over 350 active participants. You can see their website here: www.ghrfc.com
