As energy costs continue to challenge businesses across the UK, the Blackpool Net Zero Business Academy are encouraging local companies to consider solar power as a reliable, long-term solution.
Outlining the key benefits of commercial solar they clarify how solar panels can reduce reliance on the grid and cut energy costs, while also contributing to broader net-zero ambitions.
Solar panels generate electricity by converting sunlight into usable power. During daylight hours, the system supplies this renewable energy directly to the building, helping businesses reduce their reliance on the grid and lower overall energy costs.
Generating electricity on site helps shield companies from fluctuating market prices and enhances longer-term operational resilience. Combined with battery storage, solar installations can smooth periods of high demand and reduce exposure to external supply volatility.
In addition to cost savings, solar panels play an increasingly important role in helping businesses demonstrate Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) commitment, which is becoming increasingly important for customers, investors and supply chains.
The Academy has provided support to many local businesses, including fully funded energy audits, tailored decarbonisation action plans and ongoing guidance throughout sustainability implementation processes.
Thompsons Solar Installations, who previously received support from the Blackpool Net Zero Business Academy, and who are now one of the Academy’s approved suppliers, recently supplied solar panels to Chris Smith of Top Gun Tools and Fixings, following his ongoing support from the Academy.
“Solar panels are a smart, long-term investment for businesses. We were particularly proud to support Top Gun with their installation,” says Lucy Boulton, Solar Manager at Thompsons. “Following being in a business partnership with Top Gun for 30 years, connecting again through the Academy made the project even more rewarding.”
The Blackpool Net Zero Business Academy are encouraging Blackpool businesses with any questions around solar or any other sustainability measures to get in touch.
