Happy Creative have recently collaborated with Ruth Filmer, founder of Kardia, an early intervention mental health course designed for teenagers, to develop Kardia’s new brand identity and assets.
Kardia’s mission, rooted in the principles of faith and neuroscience, focuses on providing young minds with a safe, supportive environment to navigate the challenges of anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues.
The name "Kardia," derived from the Greek word for “heart,” embodies Ruth’s vision: to nurture teenagers through compassion and understanding. The strapline "Nurturing Teen Minds," reflects the program's commitment to addressing mental health with deep empathy and care.
Happy Creative’s branding specialist, Louise Clarke, led the creative process of developing the brand identity and assets. The new identity reflects the organisation’s warmth and purpose, while also speaking to the teenagers who will benefit from the program.
Alongside the core brand identity, Happy Creative crafted a range of assets, including a comprehensive workbook, a reflective journal, and a facilitator’s guide. These materials are engaging, interactive, and filled with bespoke illustrations, all designed to support the learning and growth of the young participants.
The workbook and journal are more than just resources- they are tools designed to help teenagers engage deeply with Kardia’s teachings, encouraging self-reflection and positive habits. Louise’s custom illustrations enhance these assets, making them approachable and relatable for the teens who use them. Additionally, the facilitator’s guide, which is already being implemented in training future course leaders, ensures that the new leaders have all the tools they need to deliver high-quality support consistently.
Ruth’s commitment to empowering teens is backed by her extensive experience and qualifications, including a BA (Hons) in Education and Counselling Studies, a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling, and an MSc in Psychology. With over 20 years of experience working with young people, Ruth’s passion for promoting positive mental health is evident in every aspect of Kardia’s approach.
Chief Happy, Karen Lambert said “Working with Ruth has been an incredibly rewarding experience for us. Her dedication to young people and commitment to improving mental health align perfectly with our own values of putting people first and creating happier communities. We’re proud to have played a part in shaping the future of Kardia’s vital work and helping Ruth expand her impactful services to more communities. We look forward to seeing how Kardia continues to make a difference in the lives of young people.”
