Barnfield Construction has finished the installation of windows, doors, wall cladding, and solar panels for Kerakoll UK’s new plant in Preston.
Phase 1 of this landmark project includes a state-of-the-art distribution centre, research and development centre and training campus.
The new facility represents a significant investment in the region and will support Kerakoll’s continued expansion across the UK and Northern Europe and completion and handover is programmed for November 2026.
The site is being constructed to BREEAM standards with a predicted score of very good, with 2360 m of photovoltaic panels installed on the roof, generating an estimated 340 MWh per year, and saving 65 tons per year in CO2 emissions.
The building has also been developed to allow rainwater harvesting with a capacity of 30,000 m, serving the toilets in the main offices, giving an estimated water saving of 3000 l/day.
Tim Webber, chairman and managing director of the Barnfield Group, said: “Reaching envelope completion is a significant milestone for the project and a testament to the strong collaboration between Barnfield Construction and Kerakoll UK.
"It’s been great to work with the excellent team at Kerakoll - we’ve worked together as one team throughout, and that partnership has helped deliver such strong progress to date.
We’re looking forward to seeing the final outcome on completion, which reflects our shared commitment to quality, innovation and sustainability.”
Carl Gardner, managing director of Kerakoll UK, added: “Thanks to Barnfield Construction the project has been running smoothly and to schedule, allowing us to welcome our key customer partners to view the site in the second half of this year.”
