Blackpool Council has submitted plans for a regeneration scheme that would bring new homes, shops, flexible workspaces and community facilities to the Central Drive area.
The proposals, backed by £90.4m of government funding through Homes England, would see up to 300 existing properties demolished and replaced with 230 energy-efficient homes across a 5.4-hectare site.
The scheme forms the first phase of the wider Blackpool Central Housing Regeneration Area Framework and is designed to support housing renewal, job creation and long-term investment in one of the town's most deprived areas.
Coun Lynn Williams, leader of Blackpool Council, said: “We have been given a once in a generation opportunity to transform one of the areas most in need of regeneration in Blackpool.
“The area is the third most deprived in the country and doing nothing is not an option. Smaller schemes have been tried before and have failed – this area and the people who live here deserve something transformational.”
More than 70 per cent of property owners in the area have requested an offer, with more than 100 agreeing to sell their property.
The proposals form the first phase of the wider Blackpool Central Housing Regeneration Area Framework, which was most recently consulted on with the public in March 2026.
