Miller Homes has marked World Wildlife Conservation Day with a donation to Rainford Brook Lodge Primary School, providing twelve bird boxes and five hedgehog homes to help pupils learn about and protect local wildlife.
The contribution for Wildlife Conservation Day on the 4th December, will support the school’s outdoor learning programme, giving children the opportunity to observe nature first-hand and understand how small changes can make a meaningful difference to their environment.
The donation is closely linked to Miller Homes’ presence in Rainford, where the housebuilder is delivering two new communities at Dial House Place and Rookery Place.
Both developments have been designed with nature in mind, incorporating features that encourage wildlife to thrive and creating green, sustainable neighbourhoods for future residents.
Mr P Reece, Headteacher at Rainford Brook Lodge Primary School said: “We are grateful to Miller Homes for this generous donation, which will make a real difference to our outdoor learning spaces.
"The bird boxes and hedgehog homes will allow children to observe and understand the wildlife around them, and they are already excited to get involved in monitoring the new habitats.”
Across all new developments, Miller Homes integrates a wide range of wildlife-friendly measures. Every new home includes a bird-nesting brick or external box to support local bird populations.
“Hedgehog highways” are installed within garden boundaries, giving hedgehogs safe routes between habitats, while sustainable drainage systems help manage water naturally and reduce environmental impact. Planting schemes also focus on pollinator-friendly species to create environments where bees, butterflies, and other pollinating insects can flourish.
