Stonyhurst College took centre stage hosting the launch of the latest edition Lancashire Business View which celebrated business in the ‘hidden’ Ribble Valley.

More than 70 business people from across Lancashire, attended the stunning venue to find out more about the November/December issue of the county’s premier business publication.

Richard Slater, chairman of Lancashire Business View, said: “We wanted to inspire and create opportunities for the businesses attending and we think we did that.

“We had some fantastic panelists telling us about how they are trying to drive the economy in Lancashire.”

Paul Sharples, commercial director of Stonyhurst College, said: “It was a pleasure to host the Lancashire Business View magazine launch and welcome people into this historic building and show our facilities.

“It was interesting to hear the various panels about the challenges they face now and look at the things we can do for business continuity across the sector to make the Ribble Valley a stronger business community.”

Nicola Hopkins, director of economic development and planning, from Ribble Valley Council said: “Ribble Valley is a fabulous area for people to live and work, events like this elevate the unique value of the Valley within Lancashire.

“We heard from different businesses from around Lancashire, from Blackpool Airport to Graham and Brown featuring in the magazine.

“Ribble Valley has a diverse mix of businesses and we want to keep building on that.”

The session opened with John Browne, headmaster of Stonyhurst College, talking to delegates about the history of the institution and the challenges they face.

Simon Lawrence, director for growth and regeneration from Lancashire County Council, spoke about the latest opportunities across the Red Rose County.

Mark Sutcliffe from Freshwalks and Salar Media; Nicola Hopkins from Ribble Valley Council; Zahra Hanif, WHN Solicitors and Zara Moon from Zara Moon Architects were on a panel talking about Ribble Valley and the contribution their businesses are making to local economy.

Mark Edwards from Seriun then shared some tips on using tools of Microsoft to make their business run smoother.

Steve Peters, CEO of Blackpool Airport chatted to delegates about his hopes for facility, while the magazine’s cover star, CEO Andrew Graham, talked about his digital transformation at Graham and Brown in Blackburn.

Joanne Hindley, sales director of Lancashire Business View talked to delegates about the latest opportunities for collaboration with the magazine.

Andrew Dewhurst from Nelson and Colne College Group, spoke to the attendees about their ongoing relationship with Lancashire Business View while Laurence O’Connor from Financial Affairs highlighted the importance of cyber security protecting your business.
