Fylde secures new funding to drive growth

Fylde Council has secured an additional £857,692 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) to continue boosting local businesses, skills, and community initiatives in 2025/26.

This new funding—£159,659 in capital and £698,033 in revenue—builds on the £2.6 million already invested in Fylde over the past three years, supporting 19 local projects that have strengthened the economy and improved residents' quality of life.

The UKSPF funding has already supported a range of transformative projects, including:

• The Shop Local Schemes – supporting our high street businesses in Kirkham, Lytham and St Annes.
• Fylde Ice Festival – an innovative event out of season at each of our town centres to encourage new visitors.
• Soundtracks of Our Lives – a community wellbeing project using music therapy to combat loneliness and enhance mental health.
• Fylde’s Apprenticeship Project – placing apprentices in local businesses and supporting them through their studies.
• Business Support – offering bespoke business support packages to new and developing businesses in Fylde

Looking ahead, Councillor Karen Buckley, leader of Fylde Council, said: “This investment allows us to continue funding projects that make a real difference—whether that’s supporting businesses, upskilling residents, or enhancing community spaces. We’re committed to ensuring every pound benefits Fylde’s future.”

As part of a transition year for UKSPF, Fylde Council will work closely with the Combined County Authority for Lancashire to ensure funding is allocated where it has the most impact.

The Fylde UKSPF Programme Board, with input from local businesses, community groups, and education leaders, will review proposals before final funding decisions.

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a £2.6 billion investment programme designed to replace EU structural funding and level up communities across the UK.

Fylde was originally allocated £2.6 million for the period 2022-2025, with an additional £857,692 for 2025/26.

The Combined County Authority for Lancashire will distribute the funds directly to Fylde Council.
