Blackpool-based Force Technology has won a contract to supply valve springs for Cosworth's next generation of hypercar engines.
The agreement is one of a number of contracts involving the company's valve springs being used in high-performance road and racing engines.
Based at Lightworks on Amy Johnson Way, Force Technology employs 50 people and supplies precision-engineered valve springs to customers around the world.
The business was co-founded in 2015 by managing director Steve Williams following a career in advanced engineering and manufacturing.
In addition to the automotive sector, the company manufactures valve springs for engines used in cruise ships, container vessels and aircraft, as well as applications in locomotives, motorcycles, construction and mining equipment, and historic and classic vehicles.
Steve said: “In a modern high-speed engine, the valve spring plays a critical role in controlling the movement of the valve train under extreme forces and dynamic vibration.
“Every valve spring we produce is fully bespoke to the customer’s application.
“We’re growing at a great pace nationally and internationally and Lancashire is a great place to do business as an advanced engineering and manufacturing business.”
The contract supports the ambitions of the Lancashire Growth Plan, which identifies advanced engineering and manufacturing as one of five priority sectors for growth.
Prof Miranda Barker, spokesperson for the Lancashire Business Board, said: “Lancashire’s advanced engineering and manufacturing sector contributes about £6.4bn to the local economy and includes key industries such as aerospace, energy, chemicals and commercial vehicles.
“Force Technology’s contract with Cosworth reflects the strength of the county’s engineering and manufacturing capability and its ability to compete in international markets.”
