All the permanent units at Haslingden Market are now fully occupied - marking the start of a new chapter following its £500,000 transformation.
Rossendale Council has invested £200,000 in the market’s redevelopment to create a more modern, welcoming and flexible space for traders and visitors. A further £300,000 was provided by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
The market now hosts a diverse mix of independent businesses and opens every Friday and Saturday.
It also runs a programme of themed markets and community events throughout the year, supporting local businesses and encouraging more people to visit the town,
Councillor Nick Harris, Rossendale’s lead member for economic development, said: “Seeing every unit at Haslingden Market now fully occupied is a fantastic moment for the town and a real sign of confidence in the market’s future.
“The traders have brought energy, creativity, and commitment to the space, and it’s been brilliant to see the community responding so positively.”
“I want to thank all our traders and everyone who has supported the market so far. Please keep visiting, shopping local, and supporting Haslingden Market wherever you can.”
Lindsay Rawson, Rossendale Council markets officer, said: “It’s been brilliant to help the market grow, welcome new faces, and become a real hub for the community again.
“I’d love to see even more people popping down, meeting the traders and enjoying what’s here.”
