Blackpool Net Zero Business Academy is providing support to the Blackpool based hotel, Hotel 242, as they set out on their journey to become more energy efficient.
Situated on Bispham cliffs, north of Blackpool centre, Hotel 242 owners, Sharon and Martyn Page, moved to Blackpool two years ago to transform the hotel. They turned to Blackpool Net Zero Business Academy for guidance on becoming more sustainable.
The academy’s sustainability specialist, Megan Tucker provided fully funded, impartial advice and conducted a comprehensive energy audit at the hotel premises.
The bespoke audit highlighted a range of implementable suggestions, such as installing motion-sensor lights and investing in a new energy-efficient freezer. Most importantly, the academy’s support allows the couple to access help whenever financially feasible.
Sharon said: “The carbon audit and report reassured us that we were making the right decisions, and Megan broke our actions down into a five-year plan with costings, so we know the order in which things need to happen.
“What was brilliant about the Blackpool Net Zero Business Academy is that when we got in touch, Megan took the initiative.
“Her plan is really clear – and it’s broken down into sensible chunks, with top priorities, other things we could do, the cost of changes and the savings we would make.”
