Exploring what makes us unique at Fagan & Whalley

At Fagan & Whalley, we’re under no delusion that we could be classed as your average, run-of-the-mill logistics provider…

But with almost a century of rich history and experience under our belt - how could we be? Rather than trying to stifle what makes us different, this month we wanted to delve into the distinctive traits that set us apart and the reasons that our clients choose to partner with us…

We have almost 100 years of experience

At Fagan & Whalley, we have a story. A story that began in 1927 as a small local business delivering goods to neighbouring villages using horse-drawn carts.

Today, after six generations and almost a century later, we've grown into an established logistics provider with a fleet of over 200 vehicles and extensive warehousing spanning over 350,000 square feet.

But this rich heritage isn't just a historical fact or a nice tale to tell, it's reflected in our genuine care for customers and the enduring family-run ethos of our business. We honour our heritage by building lasting relationships with our clients, embedding our core values into everything we do, and carrying forward the traditions that have shaped us over the years.

Our people are at the heart of what we do

Secondly, we’ve never shied away from the fact that our people make us who we are. Despite our reach spanning the entire UK, our core values still prioritise genuine and open communication, transparency, and a deep sense of care. We believe that our collective success is rooted in the wellbeing and growth of our team members - which is why we prioritise creating an environment where everyone feels valued and has room to grow.

This is demonstrated in the continuous investments we make into our team members.

For example:

  • Training and Development opportunities for professional drivers
  • Our Wellbeing Committee dedicated to improving mental health
  • Shared celebrations and a culture of collectiveness
  • ILM investment in managerial training
  • Our Paycare Cashplan for drivers

By fostering our people’s career growth and skill development, we’ve created a team that are engaged, passionate and enthusiastic about what we do. The result of this is that our work is carried out with exceptional professionalism, precision to detail and consistently high quality.

We don’t just manage logistics, we fuel your growth

However, we’re not just unique in our culture or our people. It is also reflected in how we help our clients grow and expand.

We spoke to our business development director, Graham Clare, to see what he had to say: “It might sound a little cheesy, but we believe that at Fagan & Whalley, we go beyond the conventional logistics model of simply moving goods from A to B.

"Instead, we invest time into getting to know our client’s businesses. It’s only through understanding their unique needs and challenges that we’re able to provide them with thoughtful and personal solutions that help fuel their expansion and growth.”

He continued, “Our approach isn’t about generic solutions; it’s about crafting bespoke strategies that align with our client’s goals.”

Technology and innovation are crucial

Finally, at Fagan & Whalley, we’re continuously investing in the latest logistics technology. Whether that’s advanced vehicle analytics or specialist warehouse VNAs and forklifts. This not only enhances our operational efficiency but also provides us with insights and data that allow us to consistently deliver the best service and solutions to our clients.
