Preston property developer, Breck Homes, has revealed a £380m pipeline of almost 1,700 affordable homes for future development across 21 sites as it continues its growth across the North of England.
Breck is also aiming to get spades in the ground at 14 of these sites over the next 12 months, totalling around 900 new affordable homes for families, couples and individuals across the North West and Yorkshire.
It comes as Breck filed its latest accounts this week, showing an increase in tangible net worth to over £24m, with annual net profits before tax of more than £13.3m.
Since the Lancashire-headquartered developer was launched six years ago, it has grown rapidly through the consistent delivery of high-quality affordable homes in partnership with registered affordable housing providers.
It has handed over more than 1,000 completed homes to residents to date, with a further 500 more currently under construction.
Andy Garnett, chief executive of Breck, said: “Over the past six years, we have completed nine sites in partnership with affordable housing providers. Seeing these new communities we have created now being lived in by people who deserve them is inspiring, and the reason we want to continue to grow.
“Our reputation for speed, consistent delivery and true partnership has fuelled our growth to date and we now have nearly 1,500 houses which we are either awaiting a planning decision or preparing planning applications for or in talks with a housing association on contracts to allow us to begin construction.
“Our unique approach and strong financial position mean we can bring sites forward quicker than other housebuilders, and a key goal for the next year is to convert a significant proportion of this pipeline into live construction sites.”
Breck began work on-site at its first Yorkshire affordable housing scheme, a 53-home development in Bradford in partnership with Incommunities.
It represents a major milestone in Breck’s growing Yorkshire presence following the purchase of its Leeds office last summer and the appointment of Nigel Robson as Yorkshire managing director in January this year.
Breck is also assessing several affordable housing developments in new geographical areas as it continues its expansion across the North.
Andy Garnett added: “We also want to continue to grow our £380m pipeline and are currently actively progressing opportunities in the North East as well as the Midlands.
“We see real demand in both areas for quality affordable homes for those who need them - with our unique approach to delivery we are excited for what the future holds for Breck.”
