Blackburn-based Assystem is set to create 450 jobs in the UK on its way to delivering eight new nuclear power plants.
The positions will include engineers, technicians, and project managers involved in the building of next-generation plants.
There will be more than 120 positions recruited in the North West to contribute to the safe and efficient decommissioning of nuclear technologies.
Additionally, Assystem is supporting the development of Rolls-Royce Small Modular Reactors (SMR) and will be expanding its team in the North West to meet a growing demand for skilled engineers in this sector.
The company also has roles focused on the development of pioneering new hydrogen infrastructure and fusion energy technologies as well as major transport and infrastructure projects such as HS2 and the Thames Tideway.
Assystem has its UK headquarters in Blackburn and is focused on coupling its established engineering expertise with digital solutions to accelerate the delivery of the low-carbon projects that will drive Britain’s energy transition.
Simon Barber, Assystem UK managing director, said: "A new nuclear fleet will provide thousands of long-term secure jobs and vital energy security while reducing reliance on carbon-intensive fossil fuels. These plants will provide stable and abundant low-carbon power for decades to come.
“Decommissioning is the final stage in the nuclear lifecycle, and it’s the next generation of skilled digital innovators who will deliver inventive solutions in this sector – the bulk of which will take place in the North-West.”
