Zuber Issa speaks exclusively to Lancashire Business View about the next chapter of his career in Issue 128 of the magazine.
Editor Ged Henderson interviews the billionaire entrepreneur about the growth ambitions of EG On The Move, lessons learned from building EG Group alongside brother Mohsin, and why Lancashire remains central to his plans.
The interview follows Zuber’s acquisition earlier this year of a further 260 sites in France from EG Group. EG On The Move already operates 160 petrol forecourt sites and 210 foodservice concessions across the UK from its Blackburn headquarters.
In the wide-ranging Big Interview, the father-of-four discusses his decision to continue building the business following private equity partner TDR Capital’s exit from EG Group.
He says: “When you build a business from scratch, it is very hard to let go - especially when you have established it from nothing.”
Zuber also reflects on his family’s journey to the UK, explaining how his father came to Britain as an economic migrant to support relatives in India.
He says: “Fortunately it was my dad who ended up being an economic migrant and settling here in the UK. Our parents’ goal was to better their and their children’s lives and to send some money back home, so family there could better their lives as well.
“I was speaking to my mum the other day, and asked how much money she brought with her to the United Kingdom and she said, ‘If I’m not mistaken, it was less than £2.’”
The interview also includes Zuber’s views on private equity, leadership and the future of the business.
He says: “My advice to anyone going into partnership with PE is to ask themselves if they really know what they are getting themselves into.”
Discussing his commitment to Lancashire, he adds: “There is no better place than Lancashire to do business. We’re born and bred in Blackburn and we are very fortunate to have this office and other business interests here.”
Issue 128 also includes a spotlight on the winners of the Red Rose Awards 2026, roundtable discussions on skills and women in business, and coverage from Lancashire Business View’s AI and CyberSecurity Summit at Mercure Dunkenhalgh Hotel and Spa.
