npd collaborates on design of plastic-free deodorant vessel

npd is proud to announce the successful design, development and manufacture of an innovative, completely plastic-free vessel for natural deodorant, featuring compostable refills. This breakthrough product marks a significant milestone in sustainable personal care solutions.

In collaboration with the founders of Shift, we embarked on a ten-month journey to create a deodorant packaging that prioritizes user experience and environmental impact. Our team tested numerous mechanisms and forms, ultimately developing a durable, user-friendly and eco-conscious solution.

The result is a mono-material casing made entirely from aluminum, ensuring it is both fully recyclable and capable of maintaining its material value indefinitely. Unlike traditional deodorant stick packaging that relies heavily on plastic components, our design eliminates plastic entirely, setting a new standard for sustainable packaging.

The innovative casing features a simple yet effective pushing action, designed for ease of use. By reimagining the application process, we avoided the complexities of traditional twisting mechanisms and instead harnessed the natural motion of the hands. This back-to-basics approach not only simplifies the user experience but also enhances the product’s longevity and reliability.
