New jobs promised as Hippo gets go-ahead for expansion

Blackburn’s Hippo Motor Group has announced an exciting new build which will create 20 new jobs.

Hippo nightA new build close by to the current Hippo HQ will house six more vehicle preparation bays as well as seven more ramps for vehicle maintenance and repairs. A new department to the company will be created in the form of paint booths. There will be three of these to make sure all aspects of vehicle prep can be done by the Hippo team.

As well as the preparation and repair side of the business, there has been forethought put into further office space. As Trident Park is close to capacity, the new site can provide desk space for an ever expanding team. The new site is due to be completed in early September.

The Hippo Motor Group has experienced rapid growth since their forming in 2007. The father-and-son founded business started in a small office with one member of staff, before moving into Burnley with a well hidden showroom and a four strong sales team.

In October 2013 the team packed up and moved over to Trident Park in Blackburn. There, they were able to showcase a wide selection of prestige, used and lease vehicles as well as carry out their own servicing and repairs all on site. The dream of ‘all under one roof’ and ‘exceptional customer service’ had been realised.

Already in 2015 the group has announced a number of appointments in the sales teams and expansions of other departments including marketing, logistics and aftersales. The latest plans include an ambitious build, making the aftersales department twice the size of its current capacity. The whole chain within Hippo has increased due to turnover exceeding £30m, starting with the introduction of a team member dedicated to sourcing and buying vehicles. All vital parts of the Hippo process, such as the sales team, mechanics, prep team and logistics, have all received extra man power to keep up with demand.
