Leading North West law firm Napthens has been reappointed to the National Farmers’ Union (NFU) Legal Panel for Lancashire and Cumbria for another three years.

Comprising of 16 legal firms located throughout England and Wales, the NFU Legal Panel provides NFU Farmer & Grower members with access to reliable and trustworthy legal support in their local area. It also includes a 12.5 per cent discount off hourly legal rates relating to their farming or growing business, fixed fees on key services, impartial assistance in non-farming areas of law and more.

Napthens, which has offices in offices in Preston, Liverpool, the Fylde Coast, Cumbria, Southport and Blackburn, is a founding member of the panel and part of it since its inception 14 years ago.

Services provided by the firm’s team of rural specialists include agricultural law and advice on a wide range of personal and business legal issues affecting farmers, their families and employees, landowners and rural businesses of all kinds. This includes advice on sale and purchase of land and entitlements, renewable energy schemes, tenancy and partnerships, succession planning, and planning and development.

As a long-standing trusted partner for farming organisations across the North West, Napthens’ specialist rural team is ranked Tier 1 in the legal industry guide Legal 500.  The team are regarded as: ‘Very knowledgeable … each individual member with their own specialism, together they form a strong team.’

Andrew Holden, head of the Rural team at Napthens, said: “We know that navigating the legal terrain can be difficult, particularly when considering the workload of the modern farmer.  It’s why we’re excited to continue our relationship as a go-to adviser for NFU members, helping to ease the legal burden so farmers can focus on other priorities.

"Napthens Farm Future service has been especially popular. Through Farm Future we’ve now worked with around 200 farming families, providing tailored support and advice on business and property issues -  as well as planning for when they’re ready to pass it down to the next generation.”

David Hall, regional director at NFU, said: “The world of farming regulation and requirements is ever-changing, making the NFU Legal Panel remains a crucial point of reference for our members. With special access to the UK’s very best rural legal experts – at a reduced rate – our members will be prepared to face any legal challenge that comes their way.

“It is fantastic to continue our partnership with Napthens that have pedigree on our panel. Over the years, the firm has proved itself to be a standout member and we’re looking forward to building on our valued relationship with the team over the coming years.”
