Blackpool-based Happy Creative have shared the crucial role they have played in major restoration project, The Robinson.
The Robinson is a new contemporary business hub set within the restored Stanley Buildings in Blackpool town centre.
Commissioned by Blackpool Council following a successful tender win, Happy was appointed to create a new brand identity and lead the marketing launch for this iconic building’s transformation.
The Robinson is named in honour of John Charles Robinson, Blackpool Council’s visionary 1930’s architect. J C Robinson designed many of the town’s iconic buildings including the Stanley Buildings, the Derby Baths, South Shore Open Air Baths, Stanley Park’s Art Deco café, and the Technical College on Palatine Road.
Happy Creative’s role focused on crafting a brand identity that respects this rich heritage while appealing to modern business needs.
Inspired by the Art Deco influences present in many of J C Robinson’s designs, the new brand features sophisticated typography and visual elements that strike a balance between past and future.
The agency worked closely with Blackpool Council’s marketing and comms team to ensure the brand aligned with the Council’s guidelines, creating a cohesive and unified identity that complements other Council assets.
Happy also collaborated with interior design specialists Bev Wood Design (BWD), a partner on the tender. Bev and her team’s creative vision helped shape the interior of The Robinson, from the thoughtful selection of fabrics and colours to the intelligent use of space.
Their attention to detail in choosing materials and creating a harmonious flow throughout the building helped create an inspiring and cohesive workspace.
The result is a dynamic environment with over 40 private office spaces, six meeting rooms, a flexible co-working area, and thoughtfully designed breakout spaces, as well as ultra-fast broadband, fully equipped kitchens, showers and a secure bike storage.
Beyond facilities, The Robinson offers a unique opportunity to access business support through regular networking events, development workshops, and tailored guidance from The Blackpool Growth Business Academy.
As strategic marketing partner for the Academy, Happy’s involvement reinforces their commitment to supporting business growth.
Karen Lambert said: “There’s something incredibly inspiring about helping to shape the future of a building that has such a storied past. We are proud to have been part of this restoration project, especially one that will provide not just workspaces, but a supportive community where businesses can grow and scale together.
