Blackburn-based digital marketing and web development specialist eBusiness UK has reported a 20 per cent increase in revenues and a 21 per cent increase in live projects over the last 12 months.

The company has capitalised on the growth in interest for services including search engine optimisation, pay per click advertising and conversion rate optimisation. Already on the ascent over the last decade, demand rocketed during the Covid-19 lockdown when online communication became the main way people and brands could keep in touch.

eBusiness UK won new contracts throughout the year, from both new clients, such as the Brookfield Group, Rubber Duck Ventures, Ammaari Stones, Ameliyas and Powerflush Geek, as well as a number of existing clients increasing their digital spend to support their continued growth, including Newcastle-based Asian foods supermarket HIYOU, and Optical Revolution, which extended the remit of its work five times in five months.

Long-term clients including Heathcote & Co and Stanley House Hotel & Spa also began new projects as their businesses expanded.

Both the new orders and increased spend from existing customers reflected a global trend, with organisations opting for digital marketing as a more cost-effective method than traditional advertising.

It has been estimated that as much as 70 per cent of marketing spend in the UK is dedicated to digital channels, and that businesses have increased the size of their investments by 32 per cent over the year.

Latif Kothia, director of eBusiness UK, said: “Digital marketing can be finely tuned, budgets can be closely managed, and specific audiences can be targeted with a high degree of accuracy. And since the pandemic, more and more people have spent more and more time, doing more and more tasks online, making the potential audience greater than ever.

“It’s the perfect situation for a growth in demand for digital marketing and as our company has more than two decades of experience delivering these services, we have been perfectly positioned to reap the rewards.”

Latif added: “A fantastic year for so many of our customers has resulted in a great year of growth for us. Looking ahead to 2023, we predict that the biggest challenge will be to make marketing budgets stretch further as the UK battles a cost-of-living crisis and a recession.

“The key for many organisations will be to maintain a level of marketing that is affordable whilst delivering the results necessary to secure a healthy level of inquiries, orders and profits.”

eBusiness UK has been looking to the future, helping to improve the skills of young Lancashire people by recruiting three apprentices to the team.

Company founder Kam Kothia has also been instrumental in developing a multi-year plan to boost Lancashire’s wider digital economy, overseeing Lancashire Enterprise Partnership’s plan to create thousands of jobs and generate £5bn in annual revenues.

Outside of his efforts in supporting local businesses, Kam was also rewarded for his work to help improve accessibility to top-quality education for children across the country. For this, he was awarded an OBE as part of the Queen’s 70th jubilee celebrations.

Latif added: “All in all it has been a very positive year for us and our customers. We look forward to helping more organisations to establish their brands online in 2023 and beyond. Lancashire has a thriving digital economy, and we are proud to be a part of it and to be helping to drive it forwards towards its true potential.”
