The Community Foundation for Lancashire is delighted that Amanda Parker, Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire, has accepted the role of president of the foundation.

The announcement was made at the Lancashire Investors in Community Annual Dinner, held this month at the Tithe Barn, Browsholme Hall, the Parker family’s estate and the oldest historic family home in Lancashire. Amanda takes over the role from Lord Shuttleworth, previous president and Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire.

Amanda, a proud Lancastrian, has dedicated her life to serving her community, both in her previous role as a magistrate; supporting young people through sport, especially hockey; and as chair of National Crimebeat, a youth crime prevention charity. She has served as a trustee of Whalley Educational Foundation, which provides community space for education; Nightsafe, a charity for young homeless people in Blackburn; Saheliyaan, an organisation supporting female abuse victims in Chorley; and Active Lancashire, which seeks to improve lifestyles and health outcome.

Rae Brooke, CEO of the Community Foundation, commented: “We are delighted to have Amanda as our president, especially given her passion for Lancashire and her community. We know she will be a great ambassador for the organisation.

“We’re also grateful to have Browsholme Hall as a member of our Lancashire Investors in Community initiative, a collective of local businesses who support the work of Community Foundation, ensuring that grass roots community groups can make a life changing difference to the most vulnerable people across our region.

“The impact the Community Foundation for Lancashire makes is huge and we’re so thankful to have the support of our investors. Since March of this year, we have given out £1,170,960 in grants, supported 48 community projects, and helped 89,874 beneficiaries across Lancashire. We look forward to working together with Amanda to continue to build a thriving community, where people of all generations can grow, flourish and prosper now and in the future.”

As the new president of the Community Foundation for Lancashire, and first female Lord-Lieutenant in almost 500 years, Amanda commented: “I am delighted to be president of Lancashire’s Community Foundation. Through their Lancashire Investors in Community initiative, they have helped many grass roots organisations and communities. I look forward to working with them to support Lancashire and Lancastrians.”
