Sunshine for the Soul celebrates organic beauty

A Poulton-le-Fylde organic boutique beauty salon has lined up a week of beauty treats and offers as part of a new national Organic Beauty Festival in partnership with leading British organic spa brand, Pinks Boutique.

The celebrations form part of Organic September, the UK’s celebration of all things organic. The message behind this year’s theme, ‘the Campaign for Clarity’, is to promote and show the industry once and for all that ‘greenwashing’ just won’t wash. It’s time to reclaim organic! For cosmetics and personal care products that comply to strict standards and a certification stamp that gives consumers the confidence to know that what they are buying is truly organic.

Organic has become the buzzword in beauty for brands to use, but it doesn’t always stand true. Unlike organic food, there is currently no legal standard in place for organic beauty, although normal trading standards law should prevent false claims being.

However, look along the beauty aisles and you can find products claiming to be organic with either tiny amounts or no organic ingredients at all. To label the whole product as organic when it only contains tiny quantities of organic ingredients is misleading to the consumer. It also begs the question, what other ingredients does the product contain?

Organic health and beauty products are free from the vast array of synthetically-created / man-made chemical ingredients such as mineral oils and paraffinum known to clog the skin’s pores and interfere with the skin’s ability to eliminate toxins.

Organic beauty brands, such as Pinks Boutique, are certified by the Soil Association, the UK’s leading organic certification body, which recently highlighted the problem of products on the market which are mislabelled and are misleading consumers by claiming to be 'organic', 'biological' or 'natural', otherwise known as ‘greenwashing’.

Sunshine For The Soul Beauty Therapy & Organic Skincare, 54a Tithebarn Street, which is a multi award winning salon aims, to increase awareness of organic beauty products and their benefits by inviting people to visit the boutique salon to try organic beauty products and learn about the differences between products that are certified organic and those that aren’t.

Joanna Taplin - salon owner of Sunshine For The Soul, said: “The demand for organic beauty products is on the increase , but unfortunately, there can be a world of difference between a beauty product that has been certified and one that is merely described as ‘organic’ on the label. To ensure a product is guaranteed organic, we recommend looking for the Soil Association symbol on the product before buying to ensure that what’s in the pot contains pure, natural, organic ingredients grown without the use of pesticides.

“We retail Pinks Boutique products and use them in treatments so that our clients can trust them and be confident of their authenticity. “The Organic Beauty Festival is the perfect opportunity for us to educate and inform people about how to shop for ‘green’ beauty and what organic really means. From the 14th-20th September, Sunshine For The Soul we will be offering new and existing clients the opportunity to receive 50% off any Pinks Boutique organic beauty treatment as well as the opportunity to win prizes from our organic hamper and to introduce our friendly, knowledgeable award winning salon.” added Joanna.
