Wardle Storeys acquired by American firm

Polymer films specialist Wardle Storeys has been bought by Uniroyal Engineered Products.

Wardle StoreysThe Colne company supplies international markets in many sectors including automotive, contract upholstery, marine and healthcare.

It employs more than 250 staff and designs and manufactures polymer films and coated fabrics.

Uniroyal, based in Wisconsion, designs and manufactures plastic vinyl coated fabrics and has the exclusive manufacturing rights for Naugahyde vinyl coated fabrics.

Uniroyal says the deal with Wardle will allow it to launch into the European market while allowing the Lancashire firm greater access to the USA. Brabners Chaffe Street advised Uniroyal on the acquisition. Corporate partner Tony Harper said: "Our client already has a well established business in the US and this transaction provides a great opportunity to springboard into the UK and European markets."
