By not taking yourself too seriously, you can succeed. Of course, we know cash is the constant that keeps a business flowing but it is very transparent when a business acts like just another cog in the corporate world, chasing the pounds. Now, we want and expect more from businesses.

In today’s world, we back those who embrace originality. We admire those who have taken their trade, hobby, or interest, added their personality to it and made it undeniably unique. Authenticity pays and you can bet the one thing authentic to a building site, is its humor and the comradery that goes on within projects.

Overheard on site

There is a UK magazine that writes a segment where readers send in snippets of a ridiculous conversation they have overheard…and it’s pretty hilarious. There is no stopping you from tweeting humorous conversations overheard on your site, PG ones of course. This will help build your following and potentially attract your next clients.

Nicknames are comedy gold

Introduce your staff on your social media pages and if they happen to have a nickname…use it. Give your social following or website viewers a sentence of context as to where the name came from, if it’s appropriate of course. Your audience will see how down-to-earth you are and be much more likely to call upon you.

Pranks go viral

We are only referring to tame pranks here, of course, we are not advocating anything dangerous or cruel, just the tummy tickling building site humor between colleagues that you think is appropriate to share with your social media following.

Share your ‘epic fails’

Nobody is perfect and companies, no matter the size, get things wrong all the time. So providing the failure is not going to be detrimental to gaining future clients then share away!

To meme or not to meme

Big corporations often share the occasional meme, so what is stopping you, if it’s relevant then why not? It’s just another way to add personality and humanize your company.

Builders banter

If you think your crane operator looks like somebody famous, share a side-by-side image and a poll on your Facebook and see what your following think. It’s great to see businesses engaging with comments too, so if you see some witty or stand-out ones, reply…the eyes of potential clients will be on the thread, trust us.

Just a heads up, if you have a HR person or even a department, it’s maybe best to run all posts by them first for approval.

If you would like any help with your social media or website content, give us a shout.
