Specialist furniture logistics provider, Andrew Porter, has won a contract to provide retail deliveries for Westbridge Furniture Designs.
Headquartered in North Wales, Westbridge is one of the UK’s largest manufacturers of upholstery, producing in the region of 2,000 suites per week. After a three-month trial, it has appointed Andrew Porter to carry out all of its 200 deliveries each week to independent retailers throughout the UK.
Particular high-end ranges produced by Westbridge require specially sensitive handling because of their expensive finish. Acting on a recommendation, Westbridge approached Andrew Porter for a solution to its logistics needs.
Managing director Tim Aspey said: "After meeting with Westbridge we looked in detail at the company’s requirements, the type of products which were to be delivered and the packaging and equipment which we would be most appropriate to use during handling.
“We invited managers to come and view our purpose-built furniture warehouse and specialist equipment so they could be confident we had the capacity and capability to meet all of their delivery needs. The way our warehouse and fleet operates means there is never any double-handling of goods being delivered to stores, which makes life much easier for our customers."
Nigel Holifield from Westbridge Furniture said: “Andrew Porter took the time to listen carefully to our needs and we have been very impressed with their knowledge, proactive ideas and attention to detail.”
