Peter Mullineaux said: “My Cabinet and I have worked tirelessly to get this council into the position we are in today, making great strides in taking ownership of the borough’s economic growth, with a new five-year corporate plan and a budget that will give the people of South Ribble exciting opportunities for the future.
“ During my time as leader, resident satisfaction and trust in the council has remained high, and South Ribble continues to be a good place to live and do business.“We have worked in partnership with organisations across Lancashire with developments in relation to the City Deal, the joint planning development framework, and the work of the South Ribble Partnership.
“City Deal will continue to bring significant growth to the borough, investing for a sustainable future for residents now and in generations to come.”Councillor Mullineaux will continue in his role as ward councillor for Samlesbury and Walton.
He added: “I have put my heart into serving this council for the past 15 years and now is the right time to hand over the leadership of the council. I look forward to continuing to support the council and its residents in every way I can.” He will officially step down at the council’s Annual Business Meeting on 17 May, where a successor will be named.
