The University of Central Lancashire has risen nine places in the latest Daily Mail University Guide.

The table has placed the university 78th out of 128 institutions, meaning a rise in nine places from the 2024 edition.

It rates institutions in a variety of areas, including teaching excellence, student support and experience and the proportion of graduates who attain a first or 2:1 degree.

This year, the university scored particularly high in the areas covering teaching excellence, where it sits 42nd in the country, student support (28th), and its intake of first-generation students (28th), reflecting its commitment to widening participation and making higher education accessible to all.

The university’s best performing subjects in the league table are journalism, where it is ranked second in the country, social work, which sits at 7th, health studies (5th) design studies (13th) and Childhood and youth studies (5th).

This latest ranking follows on from success in the recent National Student Survey (NSS), published in July, which saw the University rank 35th out of 122 institutions for the number of students who find the educational experience they receive overwhelmingly positive.

Prof Graham Baldwin, University of Central Lancashire Vice-Chancellor, said: “I am immensely proud of the University of Central Lancashire’s continued progress, as reflected in our rise of nine places in this year’s Daily Mail University Guide.

“This advancement is underpinned by our strong performance in the recent National Student Survey (NSS). Student satisfaction remains a cornerstone of our mission, and these results affirm the quality of the educational experience we provide.

“We are hopeful that this positive momentum will translate into further improvements across other national league tables, reinforcing our commitment to excellence and our reputation as a student-focused institution.”

Places are still available at the University of Central Lancashire on courses beginning this September. Find out more by visiting the University’s Clearing pages - www.lancashire.ac.uk/clearing
