A guaranteed £1m donation raised from the upcoming Omaze Million Pound House Draw will boost the next phase of development at Eden Project Morecambe.

The donation will form part of a mixed, long-term funding model combining philanthropy, partnerships, grants and public support. The same approach helped Eden Project Cornwall grow into a globally recognised destination.

Andy Jasper, chief executive of the Eden Project, said: “Eden Project Morecambe is built on everything we’ve learned over the past 25 years in Cornwall.

“That experience shows that sustained investment in nature, skills and education can deliver lasting benefits for people and places.

“The guaranteed £1m raised through this partnership provides important momentum as we move forward.”

Matt Pohlson, founder and chief executive of Omaze, said: “Eden Project Morecambe builds on a track record that shows what’s possible when communities, education and nature come together.

“As Eden celebrates its 25th anniversary, we’ve heard countless powerful stories about the long-term benefits the charity brings, and we’re proud to support the extension of that impact to the North.”

The new visitor attraction was given planning approval in February and is expected to open in 2028. It will create hundreds of jobs during construction and operation, attract year-round visitors and support local businesses and cultural partners.

The new Eden Project Morecambe is being delivered in partnership with Lancaster City Council, Lancashire County Council and Lancaster University, with support from government investment.

The project has been designed to complement the heritage of Morecambe’s promenade, including the Midland Hotel and the Grade II-listed Winter Gardens.

Every entry to the Omaze Cornwall house prize draw, which closes on May 31, contributes to the donation supporting Eden Project Morecambe.

The announcement comes after Eden Project Morecambe received national attention at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, where the Eden Project Bring Me Sunshine Garden won a Silver-Gilt medal and the RHS Environmental Innovation Award.
