National accountancy and advisory firm MHA has appointed three new partners and one director among 14 promotions across the north west.

Ben Harrison and Lee Salter, from the firm’s wealth management team, have been made partner, alongside Hasan Hashmi from MHA’s tax team.

Ben has more than 16 years’ experience providing independent financial planning advice and will work primarily from MHA’s Preston office. He has taken a lead role on later life planning and supporting vulnerable clients across the north west, and is an accredited adviser via the Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA) – as well as a fellow of the Personal Financial Society.

Lee, who joined the firm in 2001 and is based at the firm’s Manchester office, specialises in trusts and corporate structures and has extensive experience advising high-net-worth individuals and corporate entities. He provides advice on retirement, investment, estate and protection planning, associated tax concerns, and is part of the firm’s in-house investment committee.

Hasan joined MHA in 2021 and leads the human capital advisory team in the north west. He works closely with businesses to help them attract, retain and reward their people while managing employment-related tax and compliance matters.

The team provides specialist advice on employment taxes, equity incentives, global mobility, HR and immigration, supporting clients with practical solutions that align with their commercial objectives and growth plans.

In addition to the partner promotions, Matt Schofield has been promoted to audit director in the north west, having joined MHA as a trainee in 2012. Based at MHA’s Preston office, he works closely with owner-managed businesses and will help drive the department’s growth and efficiency objectives.

Graham Gordon, regional chair for MHA in the north west, said: “A key part of MHA’s growth strategy is to invest in the very best talent, through senior hires and also giving our people the opportunity to progress their careers with us.

“These senior promotions reflect the contribution Lee, Ben, Hasan and Matt have made for our clients, colleagues and the wider firm, and mark an important achievement in their professional journeys.

“It’s been wonderful to witness their progression as a result of both their dedication and the experience they have gained with us. Each has followed a different career path, but they have all made vital contributions to our growth through their attitude to client service and also supporting other members of staff.”

Graham added: “I’m looking forward to seeing them all thrive in senior roles over the coming years. I would also like to congratulate our other staff who have been promoted this month as a recognition of their contribution to MHA’s growth across the North West and nationally.”

The firm also announced a further 10 promotions across its north west offices.

Alongside the promotions, MHA recently welcomed its 35-strong intake of new graduates and apprentices in the region.

Securing contracts across the firm’s Preston, Kendal, Liverpool, Lancaster and Manchester offices, the latest cohort have recently begun their careers across MHA’s audit, tax and advisory teams.
