Leading law firm appoints HR manager

Birchall Blackburn Law, has appointed experienced human resources professional Michelle Heywood as HR manager.

Michelle, who has over 10 years' experience in the HR sector, joins from RM Education.

Other career highlights include a group change management role at Tesco, covering 22 stores in the North West and a regional HR business partner position at NCP covering rail, airport and core sites including the firm’s joint venture in Manchester with Manchester City Council.

Michelle has a master’s degree in English from the University of Aberdeen and attained her CIPD at Manchester Metropolitan University.

The 35 year-old from Hale will manage human resources across the firm’s nine offices.

Michelle said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to join a firm committed to growth and personal development.

“My initial objectives are to identify and develop a talent pool, introducing leaders of the future to meet the needs of the firm. This will be completed through varied channels including apprentice and graduate programmes.”

Michael Foxford, partner at Birchall Blackburn Law, said: “Michelle’s experience makes her best placed to help BB Law attract, develop, reward and retain the right people. Her appointment will support the business’ growth ambition and we hope to create more jobs as a direct result. “This will no doubt benefit clients too, demonstrating we invest in ensuring we have a team of experts to handle everything from complex issues to every-day legal matters.”
