IoD secures place on LEP stakeholder group

John Kersey, who chairs the Lancashire branch of the Institute of Directors, has been appointed to sit on the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership (LEP) Stakeholder Group.

The IoD is one of six business organisations represented on the Stakeholder Group, which provides a forum for the LEP to communicate with and consult Lancashire businesses. The group will meet regularly and will help inform the LEP’s decision making.

John Kersey said: “On behalf of the IoD I am delighted to have secured a place on this important consultation group. It ensures the views of our members will be taken into account in decisions made by the LEP which will in turn help shape the future of Lancashire.”

Other members of the Stakeholder Group are Frank McKenna of Downtown Lancashire, Gary Lovatt of the Federation of Small Businesses, Mark Schofield of Haworth’s for the NW Society of Chartered Accountants, Babs Murphy of North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, along with Lancashire County Council officers who support the LEP. The Stakeholder Group is chaired by Mike Damms, who is a board member of the LEP and also Chief Executive of East Lancashire Chamber. He said: “The Stakeholder Group ensures that Lancashire business gets a real say in decision making. With the appointment of our sixth business member, we are now becoming a group that is truly representative of businesses of all sizes and sectors and from all areas of Lancashire. The group will continue to expand and be inclusive but the IoD are key partners.”
