The 2026 Hyndburn Jobs Fair took place at Accrington Town Hall on Monday, bringing together residents, employers and education providers for a day focussed on employment, skills and opportunity.
A wide range of businesses and education providers from across the region attended the event, showcasing live job vacancies, training pathways and career opportunities.
The people of Hyndburn showed strong interest throughout the day, with attendees engaging with exhibitors, asking questions and gaining valuable insight into the roles and support available to them.
Organised by Hyndburn Borough Council, the council team had a stand of their own, actively recruiting for roles in Licensing, Environmental Health and their Customer Contact Centre.
Alongside the main exhibition, two workshops were delivered during the event. One focused on working from home, while the other provided practical support with CV writing and interview preparation. Support was also available for businesses, helping employers with their recruitment needs and connecting them with local talent.
There was also a special appearance from BBC Dragons’ Den star Kirsty Henshaw, who shared her inspiring journey into business. Her story highlighted the potential for success for people from Lancashire and resonated strongly with those in attendance.
Councilllor Scott Brerton, cabinet member for business and growth at Hyndburn Borough Council said: “The Hyndburn Jobs Fair was a real success, and it was fantastic to see so many people taking the time to come along and explore the opportunities available to them.
“The enthusiasm shown by residents throughout the day was incredibly encouraging, and it was great to see people engaging with employers, asking questions and thinking positively about their next steps.
“Events like this play an important role in connecting local people with jobs, training and support right here in Hyndburn.”
Sgt Ben Bainbridge from the Royal Air Force Careers Engagement Team said: “It has been a great event, we’ve had some good interest from Apprentices right through to graduates.”
