Helping those who want to grow

I’m often asked how Access to Finance helps SME owners in Lancashire who are looking for funding and finance to grow their businesses.

In a nutshell, we help business owners to identify and access private and public sector funding aimed at promoting growth.

To do this we concentrate on two key areas:

Investment readiness - ensuring that an owner is fully prepared to make the best impression when they meet a funder. Such support typically takes the form of help with business planning, developing financial forecasts, creating a pitch deck and support with those all-important presentation skills.

Sourcing funders - signposting and introducing owners to a range of funders who can provide the right type of investment. Simple you may think? But when you consider the number of different funders in the marketplace, getting access to the right one is not always easy.

We help business owners to identify and access private and public sector funding

The British Business Bank (BBB) recently released its Small Business Finance Markets Report which highlighted some interesting, and potentially alarming, statistics:

  • Only 14% of business owners went online to research their funding options
  • 81% sought no advice at all
  • 73% of smaller businesses would rather forgo growth than borrow

Our role is to help, encourage and support business owners to overcome some of those issues.

Since 2012 Access to Finance - fully funded by Lancashire County Council and the European Union - has helped Lancashire businesses source in excess of £40m in funding. So, if you are looking to grow your business, contact us at Boost, Lancashire’s Business Growth Hub, and we will be happy to see how we can help.
