eyevis UK, the Burnley-based control room video wall specialist, has won a deal which will help identify and prevent problems with the electricity generating network in Tanzania.
The company is working with the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO), at its brand new monitoring and control centre in Dar es Salaam.
eyevis is creating two video walls, each made up of eight of its 70-inch LED rear projection displays, which will be operating 24/7 to help keep the lights on in the East African country.
One of their video walls will be used to monitor TANESCO’s GE SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) applications. The second will oversee the Distribution Management System (DMS), which monitors and controls the entire distribution network efficiently and reliably.
Managing director Steve Murphy, who has flown out to Tanzania to oversee the project, said: “An electricity generator and distributor like TANESCO requires reliability and equipment which is easy to service, so we are delighted that they have seen the benefits of eyevis technology.
“Our video displays will be working 24/7 to ensure that the supply and distribution network runs smoothly and help keep the lights on for the people of Tanzania.”
Last year, it helped keep visitors and competitors at the Commonwealth Games safe after installing a £1m video wall system in Glasgow’s new CCTV control centre.eyevis UK is working on the project with Finnish integrator Eltel.
