Ecommerce helps Plumbs grow sales

A new website has helped home furnishing specialist Plumbs to grow its audience and secure additional sales.

The company traditionally specialises in made-to-measure loose furniture covers, curtains and reupholstery products utilising a network of 120 consultants who advise on the best choice of fabrics and colours through home visits.

The new website - - was launched in September to offer an entirely online buying experience to target a younger market. 

Since launch, the website has seen traffic increase three times over, resulting in a more than seven-fold increase in sales in January 2021 compared to September 2020.

Sam Fletcher, managing director of 21Digital which designed and delivered the site, said: "Although the new brand and website were launched as part of a long-term plan to provide different buying methods attuned to Plumbs’ different customer demographics, it’s fair to say that the lockdown ecommerce and home improvement booms have contributed to the site’s incredible success from a standing start.

"The good news is that, though lockdown may have given the ecommerce site a kick-start, we envisage further growth for the site through ongoing digital marketing which is in play to build on this initial launch success."
