Doug Crampton, chef patron of Eight at Gazegill in Rimington, has been named as Marketing Lancashire’s newest Taste Lancashire Ambassador.
The appointment comes after a successful year for Eight at Gazegill, which earned a Green Michelin Star and two Lancashire Tourism Awards before reaching the national Visit England Awards for Excellence finals.
The ambassadors include chefs from Lancashire's Michelin starred venues, award winning gastro pubs and restaurants.
Doug said: “I'm thrilled to be invited to help grow the county's reputation as a destination for food lovers and for those who value the authenticity and sustainability of local producers.”
Doug partnered with Emma Robinson and Ian O'Reilly of the Robinson family farm, and Gazegill Organics in Rimington, to launch their 'farm to fork' restaurant, Eight at Gazegill, in 2024.
This February the restaurant was awarded a Green Michelin Star before landing two honours at the Lancashire Tourism Awards: The Taste of Lancashire Award and the award for Regenerative Tourism.
Doug said: “We wanted a venue for everyone, where you can visit as a family, that's child friendly, surrounded by animals and beautiful Lancashire countryside, and values local produce.”
Vikki Harris, marketing and partnership director of Marketing Lancashire, said: “We are delighted that Doug has joined our Taste Lancashire Ambassadors.”
