Accrington Stanley will proudly welcome national men’s mental health charity ANDYSMANCLUB to the Wham Stadium on Thursday 5th February as part of the club’s League Two fixture against Salford City, reinforcing a shared commitment to opening up vital conversations around men’s mental health.
Ahead of kick-off, ANDYSMANCLUB will deliver a 10-minute talk in matchday hospitality within the 1968 Lounge, giving attendees an insight into the charity’s life-changing work and the importance of creating safe spaces where men can talk openly.
In addition, pop-up stands will be located among both home and away supporters, offering fans the opportunity to meet the team, ask questions and learn more about the free peer support groups available across the UK.
A collection will also take place in and around the ground, with supporters encouraged to give whatever they can to support the charity’s mission.
Founded to provide free-to-attend peer support groups for men, ANDYSMANCLUB is a men’s suicide prevention charity that has seen remarkable growth in recent years. The organisation now hosts more than 330 groups every week, supporting over 5,800 men through the dedication of more than 2,500 volunteers, helping thousands access vital support in their communities.
Warren Eastham, Accrington Stanley chief executive, said: “It’s incredibly positive to have ANDYSMANCLUB at the Wham Stadium. Mental health is something us men do not talk about enough and we need to more.
“The work ANDYSMANCLUB do to facilitate that is amazing and we are proud to have them with us on 5th February.”
Lucas Whitehead from ANDYSMANCLUB said: “I can’t wait to come over to Accrington on Thursday 5th February for the game against Salford City, come and listen to the presentation and just have a chat with me.
“We already work with clubs such as Manchester City, but coming to a local Accrington Stanley and Salford City derby to support men’s health will be an honour.
“75% of men who take their own life don’t engage with a support service before they do so, not enough men do. Men need to open up more.”
Tickets for matchday hospitality are already selling fast for the fixture, priced at £55 for adults and £27.50 for children, with discounted rates of £50 for adult season ticket holders and £25 for child season ticket holders.
