Introduction to B Corps & Sustainability as a Sales Tool

08 Nov 2021

The Wellbeing Farm, Plantation Road, Edgworth BL70BY

10:00 - 17:00

WHO THIS IS FOR

Business owners who want to make a positive impact with their business and want support in creating a clear guide and framework to do so. Those that want to have a bigger positive social and environmental impact, more engaged and productive workers and increased brand loyalty.

MORE ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy. There are over 4,000 certified B Corps globally from 150 industries and 70 countries, including The Guardian, The Body Shop, Patagonia, Innocent and most recently Coutts Bank.

The UK is home to one of the fastest growing B Corp communities in the world, with over 500 companies in the community and over 4,000 applications to join in 2020. Don't let your business get left behind and discover how you can start your journey on becoming B Corp Certified.

B Corp Certification doesn’t just evaluate a product or service; it assesses the overall positive impact of the company that stands behind it. We’ve seen over the last few years, that’s increasingly what people care most about.

To become a Certified B Corp, you amend your articles of association to reflect the requirement of the board of directors to balance profit and purpose.

And meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, achieving a minimum of 80 points in the B Corp assessment across 5 categories: Workers, Community, Environment, Customers and Governance.

Learn how you can start your journey on becoming B Corp Certified with Hannah Cox, a B Leader who has been trained by B Lab UK to help businesses through the B Corp Process.

In this interactive workshop we cover:

  • Learn what challenges business is facing
  • Understand how business is changing
  • What the B Corp Movement is
  • Understand the areas of the B Impact Assessment
  • Hear how Celia Gaze grew her business based on purpose and how you can too
  • Learn about other Sustainable Initiatives your business can get involved with
  • Learn about Mindful Consumers and what that means for your business
  • How to connect with your ideal Customer
  • Meet and network with other business owners who share your values
  • Help to choose what areas of impact to focus on as a business owner, regardless of your industry
  • How to choose a framework
  • How to choose social and environmental goals
  • Tools and Resources to help you succeed

VENUE AND HOST

Celia Gaze is the Managing Director and Founder of The Wellbeing Farm, a multi award-winning sustainable wedding and events venue known for its bow tie-wearing Llamas!

Celia is an author and has recently submitted her B Corp Impact Assessment and hopes to become one of the first hospitality venues in the country to become B Corp and can share with you the farm's B Corp journey, where you will also be able to have a tour of the venue and to see first-hand some of the sustainable initiatives they have implemented.

This will run as an interactive workshop and spaces are limited to 20 business owners. Lunch and refreshments are included.

And if you are interested in taking the next steps to become certified, you can enroll on our B Corp Boot Camp in November. A two day session in which we take you through your own B Corp Assessment using the BIA framework.

This in depth workshop allows us to gain an understanding of your business and then provide a bespoke clear roadmap you can use to take you towards submission and certification.
