World Suicide Prevention Day 10th September 2016

The North West had one of the highest rates of suicide in the UK between 2012 and 2014 with Preston listed as the highest number of suicides during this time (Office National Statistics, 2016).

Saturday 10th September 2016 is National Suicide Prevention Day.

There are many reasons people choose to take their own lives and often we miss the signs. A change in behaviour or attitude, loss of interest in hobbies or neglecting their health could be an indication of person's low mental well-being.

The theme this year is ‘connect, communicate and care’. Make time to connect with a colleague, a friend or a family member you feel may be experiencing emotional pain or poor mental health.

Just giving your time to others and showing you care can make a big difference. To see how you can show someone they are not alone go to http://goo.gl/s9ARjG
