Eric Wright Civil Engineering has started on site as the main contractor at Moor Park and Waverley Park in Preston.
Works are now underway to deliver major improvements at the parks, following approval for multimillion‑pound investment last year and it is expected to be completed by the winter.
Waverley Park is benefiting from around £2.7m of investment.
Gavin Hulme, managing director at Eric Wright Civil Engineering, said: “Breaking ground at Moor Park and Waverley Park marks the start of an important phase in the development of these valued community spaces.
“We look forward to continuing to work closely with Preston City Council and the local community as the projects progress.”
Coun Valerie Wise, cabinet member for community wealth building, from Preston City Council said: “These projects represent a significant investment in Preston’s green spaces and we’re already seeing good progress on site.
