A landmark property on Preston’s Winckley Square has been acquired by a growing operator of serviced office spaces.

Wrkspace, which owns Preston’s Old Docks House at Riversway Docks, The Watermark, Ribbleton Lane, Preston Enterprise Centre, Salter Street, and Hamill House in Bolton has now acquired Derby House on Winckley Square.

The new owners are now planning to carry out refurbishment work at the property, which is already home to a number of businesses.

Plans include the creation of a mix of serviced offices, alongside break-out areas, meeting rooms and co-working spaces. Wrkspace also intends to introduce front of house staff to the building, which sits at the junction of Winckley Square and Starkie Street.

Wrkspace was advised on the purchase of the property from former owners M20 Commercial Properties Ltd by Marc Appleton, partner in the Commercial Property team at regional law firm Napthens.

Marc said: “Derby House is at a prime location on Winckley Square, the heart of the professional services community in Preston city centre.

“Wrkspace has developed a great reputation for taking older buildings and modernising them, creating attractive and functional office spaces.”

A spokesperson for Wrkspace said: “Derby House is a great addition to our portfolio of serviced office spaces.

“Its enviable location in the centre of Preston and the green space of Winckley Square make it an ideal spot for smaller and growing businesses.

“We plan to refurbish the building to bring it in line with our other properties, while retaining key features. Tenants will also have access to our regular networking events.”
