Budding golfers from businesses across Lancashire and Greater Manchester swung into action to raise funds for Rossendale Hospice at Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall’s 2023 charity golf day.

Celebrating its 15th year, the annual golf day took place at Rossendale Golf Club with a wide range of local businesses taking part, raising a total of £3,000 for the hospice.

Commercial and letting agents Trevor Dawson secured first place over the 18 holes played. They were closely followed by financial consultants and insolvency practitioners Horsfields while PM+M accountants and business advisers came in third place.

The event was organised by WHN Solicitors, Jones Melling sponsored the twos competition. Jimmy Whittles sponsored the longest drive competition, which was won by Chris Hibbert who played for Jones Melling’s team.

WHN director Daniel Long and solicitors Jake Neary and Mark Taylor all took part in the day.

Daniel Long said: “WHN’s annual golf days have now raised over £80,000 for Rossendale Hospice.

“We are an organisation committed to helping the communities which we’re a part of and once again this event has raised funds for a great cause, while giving all participants a great opportunity to meet new contacts and catch up with those they already know.

“We would like to thank all of the organisations that donated prizes, participated or contributed another way. We look forward to seeing you on the tee next year.”

Rossendale Hospice cares for patients and their families living with cancer and other life-limiting conditions. It aims to positively influence a future in which everyone within the Rossendale community facing life limiting illness receives the best possible care and support.

Joanna Williams, senior fundraiser at the Hospice said: “It was great to attend the 15th Golf Day which was superbly organised and has raised a staggering amount of money for the Hospice. We are so grateful to companies like Woodcock, Haworth & Nuttall solicitors who, year on year, are devoted to helping the Hospice.”

The hospice offers a range of services which support the wellbeing of patients from early diagnosis to end of life, including complementary therapies, bereavement counselling, hospice at home and a befriending service.
