What is a Solar Power Purchase Agreement, and how can it benefit my business?

Are you looking to reduce your business energy bills and your carbon footprint? In today’s world, that’s a question few businesses would say no to. With our Solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), you can enjoy clean, renewable energy without actually owning or maintaining a solar PV system.

It’s a smart, sustainable solution that puts you in control of your energy costs and improves your green credentials.

What is a solar PPA?

A Solar PPA is a means for businesses to install solar PV without the upfront capital or ongoing maintenance costs. We install solar panels on your premises at no cost to you, and you simply pay for the electricity they produce at a rate lower than your current utility bill.

We lease your roof or ground space and agree a purchase rate for any power generated.  We’ll then take care of any running or maintenance costs to ensure you have peace of mind for the duration of the contract.

How will it benefit my business?

  • Boost your green credentials – Improve your carbon footprint.
  • Instant savings – From the day the system is energised, you’ll start saving on your current energy purchase price.
  • No capital outlay – We take care of the installation costs.
  • Limited risk – We take the responsibility for system performance and maintenance, so you don’t have to worry.
  • Energy security – Avoid rising energy price hikes and forecast your future electricity costs.

How a solar PPA works

  • Site assessment – A member of our team will conduct an assessment to determine the feasibility of your site for solar installation. This will look at both physical criteria as well as energy purchase price and demand.
  • Proposal – Once we’ve done our calculations, if your site meets the criteria, we’ll provide you with a proposal detailing your potential carbon and financial savings.  *At this stage if your site doesn’t meet our criteria or you’d like to consider purchasing the system yourself, we’ll be happy to provide you a second proposal with this information.
  • Legals – The PPA is signed and an agreement for us to lease the airspace above your roof or land designated for the installation.
  • Installation – The array and connection equipment is installed and commissioned on a pre-agreed date, causing as little disruption to your business as possible.
  • Savings – Benefit from the reduction in your energy bills and carbon emissions over the next 25 years.
  • Over to you – At the end of the 25 year term, we’ll give you the option to transfer ownership of the system to you to reap the benefits of free solar power.

It really is as straightforward as it sounds. If you’d like to speak to our Solar team to find out more, get in touch today: https://thompsonslimited.co.uk/contact/
